Current Position Information: Senior Evaluations / Production / Petroleum Engineering
Specialist to play a lead role within the Reservoir Engineer Team. Typical projects are both
Canadian and International, and involve an inter-disciplinary team approach, based in our
Calgary office.
The Role: We are looking for an engineer with a broad base and extensive experience to take a
lead role in delivering high quality consultancy services to Clients. The main objective is to
expand our economic evaluations business and to provide production engineering support to the
production engineering group. The economics evaluation business has expanded greatly over the
past years.
The successful applicant will:
. Independently conduct and manage reserves and economic evaluations of properties
and companies for NI-5101 reporting. This will include acquisition evaluations, year-end
reserve reports and due diligence reports. Properties will be located in Canada as well as
overseas.
. Provide support to the production engineering group on field and well optimization,
completion programs, treatment design, well testing and artificial lift.
. Provide input to reservoir engineering on multi-disciplinary projects including field
development planning, enhanced oil recovery, asset management, performance analysis,
and peer reviews.
Main Responsibilities: This is predominantly a technical role. It will also involve the
management of small teams of technical staff on a project basis. The successful applicant should
expect to work on and/or oversee multiple projects that often run simultaneously.
Typical projects involve providing technical petroleum engineering input to:
. Reserves Evaluation
. Field Development Planning in remote and frontier areas
. Production Enhancement and Field Revitalization
. Reservoir and Asset Management
. Heavy Oil Developments
. Enhanced Oil Recovery and Greenhouse Gas Sequestration
. Unconventional Gas
. Acquisitions and Divestments
Skills
The successful candidate will have the following minimum requirements:
. 15-20 years of diverse progressive petroleum engineering experience. Applicants will
preferably have both International and Canadian experience
. Entrepreneurial attitude combined with exceptional technical and communication skills
and a collaborative approach towards clients and colleagues
. Initiative in solving complex technical problems and decision making ability
. Results focused team player with a positive attitude and ability to multi-task in a dynamic
work environment and work without supervision
. Ability to mentor less experienced professionals
. Demonstrated business acumen and an interest in a broader perspective
. Ability to clearly advise clients on technical matters, often at a senior level
. Leadership and management skills
. PC literate and familiarity with state-of-the-art engineering software
. University engineering degree and APEGGA membership

The successful Candidate will be able to work within a multi-disciplinary team to provide production and exploitation engineering expertise. With the opportunity to work in a fast paced and challenging environment for a dynamic, growth orientated company – excellent pay and benefits.

Responsibilities:

• Provide engineering support and work with the area asset team to evaluate and develop existing and new producing areas
• Monitor and optimize the depletion strategies of new and existing pools
• Monitor daily production volumes and work closely with Operations to address operational issues, optimize production and reduce operating costs
• Identify and execute optimization projects including recompletions, liquid unloading, backpressure reduction and compressor hp utilization
• Provide engineering input and guidance in the design and execution of completion and stimulation programs
• Prepare economic evaluations for development and optimization projects
• Provide cost estimates for capital projects and approve AFE’s and related invoicing
• Assist in the formulation of annual area production and operating budgets
• Provide preliminary scoping for proposed facility & pipeline construction projects and work with Operations & Facilities Engineering groups to finalize these designs
• Ensure compliance with ERCB regulations with respect to production testing and annual testing requirements
• Track operated and non-operated capital expenditures
• Assist in the calculation and accuracy of corporate reserves
• Liaise with Production Accounting, Financial Accounting, Marketing and Joint Venture departments as required

Educational and job experience requirements:

• APEGGA Professional Engineer (P. Eng) with 10 years of Production engineering experience
• Exploitation and Facilities engineering experience would be an asset

Software knowledge:

• AccuMap, Fekete Software (Piper, VirtuWell, MBA, RTA), Peep
