Our Client is a Swedish independent oil and natural gas company. The Company focuses on upstream (i.e. exploration and development) oil and natural gas projects. Our Client, to large extent, builds its operations on industry knowledge and important relationships within the oil and natural gas community, as well as with renowned international exploration and production companies.

Our Client has embarked on an aggressive schedule to commence commercial production and hence is now looking for suitably experienced high level management to form part of the nucleus of the development management team. These are “hands on” positions requiring a lot of the detailed work to be undertaken by the incumbents.

The Exploration Manager will have overall responsibility for all events beneath the surface. The incumbent shall also be in charge of all further exploratory work on the block including the acquisition of 3D seismic. The incumbent must be intimate with reserve classification procedures and dealing with third party reserve certifiers. Nevertheless, the key focus of the incumbent must be to develop a roadmap for understanding and relaying the secrets of the structure. He/She will work very closely with the Drilling Team to ensure that all wells are placed optimally on the structure and hence it is vital that the incumbent has a strong ‘development geology’ background.

The Exploration Manager will have the following support resources at his/her disposal: geologist, geophysicist, petrophysicist, and reservoir engineer. These resources might be in-house or outsourced.

The incumbent Exploration Manager shall have previous management experience with a strong focus on development geology. He/She must have working knowledge of geophysics to be able to acquire geophysical information to enhance hydrocarbon production. He/She must also be able to lead several subcontractors and provide solid results on a short time frame. Previous experience in the Middle East is definitely a bonus, although not critical. General
Our client is a Swedish independent oil and natural gas company, operator of Block 15 onshore Oman. The block is located in the northern part of the prolific Omani oil basin. During the second quarter of this year, one of two exploratory wells drilled in the mid nineties was reentered and sidetracked. Two sidetracks penetrated two separate reservoirs, the deeper Shuaiba and the shallower Natih reservoirs. Both sidetracks encountered gas. The shallower Natih reservoir was extensively flow tested and has now proved up what appears to be commercial quantities of hydrocarbons.

Our client has embarked on an aggressive schedule to commence commercial production from the Jebel Aswad discovery, and hence we are now looking for suitably experienced high level management personnel to form part of the nucleus of the development management team. These are ‘hands on’ positions requiring a lot of the detailed work to be undertaken by the incumbents. Procrastinators need not apply.

Project Description
Jebel Aswad is estimated to contain commercial quantities of wet gas. The gas-condensate ratio is estimated at 100 bbl / mmscfpd or greater. The structure will be developed by drilling long horizontal wells through the prospective limestone reservoirs. It is envisaged that some of the wells may be multi laterals requiring dual completions. The anticipated plateau field production is pegged at 50 mmscfpd.. A total of 5 – 7 additional wells may be required to tap this gas/condensate discovery.

Produced fluids (gas and condensate) will be processed on site before being exported in separate pipelines. A purpose built gas processing plant will therefore be required to be manufactured. It is envisaged that this gas processing plant shall also process future discoveries, should there be any, on the block. Further excellent exploration potential exists on the block.

Subsurface Manager

Our client is currently searching for a Senior Cost Engineer to develop, standardize, integrate and audit the application of effective cost control within our clients major capital projects. They will also be responsible to integrate reporting between the Developments project group and the Corporate D & D forum.
Key Accountabilities
• Coordinate the preparation, review and approval of the annual Developments project capital budget. Update cashflow forecasts on a quarterly basis
• Prepare a monthly department progress report which provides the status of cost expenditure, forecast and AFE variance on all major capital projects, including commitments, value of work done, accruals etc
• Undertake monthly critical analysis of costs, variances and trends to allow management of change
• Interrogate and update Oracle financial system with relevant cost control data
• Assist Santos Project Managers and project teams in establishing standard cost control management processes
• Ensure cost control procedures and tools are in place for Developments project team
• Conduct compliance audits of development projects to confirm procedures have been adopted by the project teams.
• Provide cost control advice to and query resolution for the development project teams
• Develop and maintain standard Cost/Work Breakdown Structure
• Develop contract pricing / administration instructions for alignment with Cost Breakdown Structure
• Represent Santos on identified Standards, Industry and Professional bodies to ensure appropriate and timely transfer of information and learnings.
• Provide discipline-mentoring to cost control engineers in project teams.
• Conduct training workshops and presentations for Developments project team The successful candidate will require a Bachelor of Engineering or Degree Qualified Equivalent or Higher Technical qualification as well as 10 years or more experience in the Discipline coupled with 10 years oil and gas experience. Key Project Management Knowledge
• Project Cost Control experience with major Operator at Senior level
• Cost Control Management in and O&G environment
• Project Cost Control Tools such as Kildrummy and Corporate tools such as Oracle Key Enabling Competencies (Senior Technical Specialist)
• Focus on timely report delivery
• Teamworker; able to work as part of project teams without compromising integrity
• Customer Service Focus; responds to project and teamleader requests as required
• Communication Skills; needs to be able to communicate easily at all levels
• Coaching and guidance for less experienced colleagues
• Environment Health & Safety Focus Key Internal Relationships will consist of Project Managers, Project Leaders, Corporate Reserves and Planning and Finance Department. Key External Relationships would be Service Contractors and Consultants.
