Location:
The principal location of work will be Calgary, Alberta, Canada. The role will require periodic travel to other company, customer, supplier and business partner sites as well as industry events.

Qualifications:
• University Degree in Business or Commerce
• Preferably CMA Designation, however, must possess an accredited designation as listed and be a current member in good standing of CA, CGA or CMA.
• 7+years of relevant experience
• Experience in production accounting or mining accounting is preferred, in a public company setting
• Experience in the development and implementation of systems and internal controls
• Must have effective communication skills
• Very Strong skills in accounting systems. Particular emphasis for strong skills in Excel® and ACCPAC® is desired. Good writing and presentation skills using MS-Office® Suite. Knowledge or Experience in Insight® is also a benefit.

Specific Accountabilities:
• Overall responsibility for financial management and reporting activities both internal and in support of external reporting for the company.
• Responsible for coordinating the preparation of the annual budgets, regular and periodic forecasts and reporting to the corporate parent.
• Responsible for maintaining proper reporting, compliance and managing the relationship with banks, insurance companies or other financial institutions.
• Responsible for regular monitoring of actual results vs. budget and forecasts vs. prior period and investigation/explanation of differences.
• Providing analytical support for assessing various projects, reviews and initiatives including cost allocation, sensitivity analysis, costing improvements, capital project and new business ventures including potential acquisitions.
• Assess, develop, and implement improvements to internal and inter-entity reporting systems including interface with data capture from marketing and operational activities.
• Represent the company as required with external stakeholders and at appropriate industry forums
• As a member of the Executive Committee, contribute to a constructive interface between the company management and the parent’s representatives
• As with all members of the Executive Committee, responsible for ensuring that appropriate safety and related training initiatives are strictly adhered to with the objective of zero lost time injuries at all work sites.

2. Zero lost time accidents
3. Reputation of company and compliance with regulatory authorities and financial institutions.
4. Oversight of Information Management Systems
5. Efficient, accurate and timely provision of financial and management reporting.
6. Responsibility for integrity of accounting records – maintenance of General Ledger, review of all Journal Entries prior to posting, review bank documents for accuracy & proper coding, ensure that intercompany accounts balance, ensure that sub-ledgers remain in balance with control accounts
7. Compliance with company accounting policies, procedures and systems.
8. Cash management
9. Control of payrolls and support to Accounting staff for payrolls, remittances and returns
10. Ensure accuracy of invoicing and journal entries.
11. Insurance – preparation of statement of values at renewal and ensure that new items are added as acquired and that certificates of insurance are issued as needed
12. Maintenance of fixed asset records and depreciation calculations
13. Mineral resource tax and other returns for the various jurisdictions in which we operate (prepared annually)
14. Identify, Initiate and implement business and system improvements.
