We are currently seeking junior to senior leader level, gas and oil production engineering personnel.

The Production Optimisation group is responsible for optimizing gas and volatile oil production from over 700 producing wells from numerous fields within the onshore Cooper and Amadeus Basins (located in South Australia, Queensland and Northern Territory).

Wells produce from lower permeability fluvial- lacustrine interbedded sand, shale and coal sequences at depths from 7,000 to 11,000 ft. Typical activities include reviewing the large onshore gas production well production and developing opportunities with multidisciplinary teams for production enhancement investments and project implementation. This can range from the well known mainstream production enhancement techniques to developing new technology solutions within Australia.

Some of the current leading edge production optimizing work includes compression optimisation, work with foaming techniques for deliquification for both in conventional and non- conventional mainstream applications, relative permeability modifier work and continuous batch surface surfactant injection.

Enhanced oil recovery work in volatile oil reservoirs is a growing focus area requiring production engineering design input into development schemes, setting up and implementing surveillance programs through to field testing novel artificial lift methods.

You will optimise the planning and implementation of cased hole sub surface work programs for onshore oil and gas wells. You will evaluate new work processes and the application of technology to improve the productivity and value of the work outcome. The role will involve strict adherence to EHS requirements as well as successful management of project cycle times, productivity and cost of work activities.

With a Bachelor of Engineering, you will have experience in completions engineering plus related experience in other sub surface engineering and operations disciplines such as drilling, stimulation, production and reservoir. Experience in surface operations is desirable.

The role will involve developing and implementing Field Depletion Plans for your fields to maximise value. In addition, you will develop annual production forecasts, recommend reserves updates and prepare documentation & presentations for project approval and develop Joint Venture budgets. You will be tertiary qualified in an appropriate discipline and have sound experience in reservoir/petroleum engineering management. Experience in project leadership is desirable.

This is an excellent opportunity for an engineering professional who enjoys large-scale challenge and examining the potential of new technologies for unconventional reservoir engineering. As the corporate focal point for technical innovation for unconventional reservoirs, you’ll identify new technologies appropriate for trialling in targeted plays and manage their implementation and evaluation.

You’ll also transfer new technology information to the broader community through presentations and courses, as well as mentoring staff in new tight gas technical innovations. In addition to looking at the potential of existing acreage, this role will also involve reviewing the commercial potential of non-existing acreage in the light of new technologies.

Degree qualified in engineering, you’ll have considerable experience in Reservoir Engineering and Production Technology and possess strong leadership ability. Hands-on fracture stimulation design and drilling engineering experience is an advantage.
