Junior Database Developer 101-429 – Calgary, Alberta
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reporting to the Manager, Software Development, you will be part of the team that is responsible for the development and support of our Data Services and Product Lines. This involves the building of database processes and algorithms for manipulating and storing large amounts of data, and the development of our client’s custom functions and procedures.
Specifically, your duties will include the following areas:
- Develop Oracle functions and procedures to exchange data between different Oracle databases.
- Develop and maintain database functions and procedures for our Services applications.
- Support day-to-day operations for our database.
- Work with our Data Services performance tuning.
- Analysis of production-related database issues
- Provide technical support for clients (as required).
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills,
- Strong working knowledge of Oracle DBA best practices (e.g., schema management, index optimization)
- Strong query and database tuning skills
- Capacity monitoring and management capabilities
- Fast troubleshooting and resolution skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks with shifting priorities
- Effective team player who can establish and build effective working relationships with co-workers and customers
- Effective verbal and written communication skills, with ability to develop technical specification documents and user guides.
SKILLS:
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- High completion drive; results oriented
- Able to work independently, but exhibit excellent teamwork with co-workers
- Able to work in difficult conditions and tight deadlines
Technical Skills:
- 1 – 3 years of Oracle DBA experience (10g or 11g)
- 1 – 3 years of Postgres DBA experience
- SQL and PL / SQL skills
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
Requires a post-secondary degree or diploma or course enrollment with a focus in database development.
