IT Infrastructure/Network Engineer 101-229 – Houston, TX
The Senior Network Engineer should be proficient in all things IP, be a strong leader, and have several years of experience working for a large ISP or telecommunications company.
The candidate should have an expert understanding of routing protocols and layer-2 protocols. Additionally the candidate should have a strong systems background (UNIX, LINUX, etc) and experience with critical internet applications such as DNS.
CANDIDATE RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Contributing to the overall design, architecture, and build-out of network infrastructure
• Contributing to the overall design, architecture, and deployment of routing policies
• Coordinating tasks with internal groups for the timely and accurate delivery of projects
• Reporting of metrics related to network performance
• Last level of escalation for network related issues and events
REQUIRED SKILLS:
• Routing/Switching platforms (Cisco Systems)
• Cisco – 35XX, 38XX, 45XX, 72XX. ASR, Nexus line a plsu!
• Load balancing platforms (Netscaler) and principles
• Firewall platforms (Checkpoint, etc)
• Network IPS appliance platforms (Radware)
• Transport protocols (Ethernet, MPLS, SONET, CWDM/DWDM)
• Routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, IS-IS, RIP, etc)
• Network protocols (MPLS, 802.1Q, IPv4/v6, Netflow, etc)
• Some UNIX scripting skills
• 3-5 years experience working in a large service provider environment
• Certifications are a plus – but not a requirement
• Windows Active Directory
• Citrix knowledge a plus
• Exchange knowledge a plus
• Must be customer-focused and able to speak with customers in terms that are easily understandable
• Must able to work effectively and collaboratively in a team environment
• Must be able to work late nights and some weekends
• Bilingual (English and Spanish) IS REQUIRED
• This position is in Greenspoint (Houston), Texas and the successful candidate must already be located in the Houston area.
