Our client is currently searching for a Contracts Manager who will be functionally responsible for all Development projects procurement and contracting activities, processes and procedures.
Environment, Health and Safety:
• Actively support commitment to Environment, Health and Safety including: – Adopting and promoting personal work practices and procedures in accordance with Environment, Health and Safety Management System (EHSMS) standards. Procurement and Contracting Processes and Procedures:
• As part of an Program Management Office (PMO) you will be responsible for ensuring: – Processes and procedures are aligned with Corporate objectives, and been implemented by all project teams; – Audit the use of these systems within the project teams – Act as SQAD discipline owner with Contracting strategies and participate in all SQAD reviews – Ensure adherence with the DOA – Maintain knowledge in latest industry trends, issues and strategies – Capture lesson learned from all projects and incorporate in processes and procedures Functional Leadership of all procurement and contracting personnel based in the project teams:
• In addition to being the primary point of contact with the corporate procurement and contracting group you will also provide functional leadership to all procurement and contracting staff in the project teams – Provide training in client systems; – Mentor staff – Establish resource plans for future projects – Assist the project teams with recruitment of procurement and contracting project – Maintain strong functional tie with the corporate contracting and procurement group – Provide link between Legal and the project teams Support the Procurement and Contracting Activities of Project Teams:
• Develop contracting strategies for projects in early stages of development by: – Establishing preliminary contracting plans and strategies; – Input into preliminary project execution plans
• Assist and support the project teams as they execute the project contracting strategies
• Attend critical project contractual meetings and workshops
• Responsible for assisting the project teams in resolution of the contract claims by: – Researching contract claims under the contract; – Preparing strategies and tactics for resolving individual claims; and – Participating and often leading claim resolution negotiations with contractors. Continuous Improvement:
• Reviewing the PMP and Project contracting strategies and making recommendations for improvement on future strategies. General:
• Pro-actively contribute to clients’ continuous improvement and innovative project management processes.
• Develop and maintain the necessary professional skills required for the position.

• Other duties as required at the direction of the Technical & Services Manager. Essential Qualifications
• Eligible for Corporate Membership of the Institute of Engineers Australia or equivalent. Required Experience
• Minimum 20 years in oil and gas or resource industries
• Development of contracting strategies for major Greenfield resource projects, major EPC and EPCM contract administration and claims resolution. Successful candidate should be self motivated, high initiative and adaptability, strong communication and interpersonal skills, excellent contractual knowledge, strong analytical skills, ability to work in a team environment, able to work within internal procedures and controls. Key internal relationships would be Development Projects, SBS Procurement and Contracting Manager, Legal and Finance. Key external relationships would be Corporate Institutes and Contractors and Vendors.
